Reading Challenges for 2017

Hello everyone,

This year I plan on doing a few reading challenges.  Here are all of them:


Goodreads-
The Goodreads Challenge is simple, you select how many books you want to read in a year and post on the sight when you finish a book.  Last year I pledged 30 but read 47.  This year I want to read 52.  You can follow my progress HERE.

Clear the Shelf-
This is a little challenge that I created for myself, but I feel like is a common one that people do.  This year I want to read as many books as I can that I already own.  You can click on the tab above to see what books I own that I have not read.  I want to get that list below 20 if not further.  A lot of these books are on my kindle, so I cannot just sell them if I wanted unlike a physical book.  I do have the option of DNFing those books, but I have to at least start them.  For this challenge I either have to read, sell, give away, or DNF a book to get it off this shelf.

Better Books-
I took this challenge from the Book Bingo challenge and changed it to match what I would like to read in 2017.  I have a list of about 30 types of books that I want to read ranging from books with a black cover to books written by a female with a female protagonist.  I will do a post later on all of the things on this list.

Monthly Read-a-Thons-
I also plan on one weekend a month doing a monthly read-a-thon.  I will try to post about them when I can.  For January I actually did a week long one from the 1st until the 8th.  I find read-a-thons help spark my drive to read and doing one each month lets me sit down and make time for knocking out some of my TBR for the month.

Read 5 Buy 1 #8 Completed

Hello Everyone,

So for 2016 I was doing the Read 5 Buy 1 book challenge that I had created for myself.  I enjoyed it, but I found that I was not doing what I had originally set out to do.  The point of the goal was to empty my bookshelf, but I found myself borrowing books from my library more than reading the ones on my shelf.  I am working on a new system to help clean off my shelf, but for the time being I will be continuing with Read 5 Buy 1.  I also told myself if I could keep with this goal, that I would allow myself to buy a few more books at the end of the year, so you will notice that the buy list is longer for this one.
