Summary:
Book by Pittacus Lore
Nine of us came here. We look like you. We talk like you. We live among you. But we are not you. We can do things you dream of doing. We have powers you dream of having. We are stronger and faster than anything you have ever seen. We are the superheroes you worship in movies and comic books--but we are real.
Our plan was to grow, and train, and become strong, and become one, and fight them. But they found us and started hunting us first. Now all of us are running. Spending our lives in shadows, in places where no one would look, blending in. We have lived among you without you knowing.
But they know.
They caught Number One in Malaysia.
Number Two in England.
And Number Three in Kenya.
They killed them all.
I am Number Four.
I am next.

Review:
4/5 Stars
I read this books many years ago when it first came out (2011). I then read many of the other ones in the series, and one day just stopped. No reason at all. I wanted to finish so I came to the conclusion that I would reread all of the beginning ones until I got to the point of new material.
I liked this book even more the second time reading it. It made me want to finish reading the entire series. The main character, John (Four), is very likable. I found myself enjoying what he was thinking. Although many times I did not agree with his decisions, aka wanting to stay, I liked him. Most of his poor decisions I believe came from the him only being 15; so he his choices matched his age.
I found myself falling in love with the characters again and being swept into the plot. I was reading this book anytime I had available. I was worried going in that I would find it childish sense I read it so long ago and enjoyed it. That was not the case. I found new meaning in the characters and actions. Also the written was well enough done that it was quick to read but still contained some meaning.
If you are looking for an interesting YA book that is not like all the others out there, this is it. If you want something with deep meaning and great symbolism, this is not your book. This book is easy to read and entertaining.
I would recommend others to read this book.
Happy Reading
